The last assignment asks you to bring together the various readings and other class materials to address larger themes regarding the Sea. This includes the video sources in the Week 14 module.
The last 500 years have seen astounding changes regarding human knowledge of and use of the Sea, developments that accelerated with the Industrial Age, and changes that have come about due to the demands of modern societies. Briefly address the following questions:
How has our technology evolved to allow us to use the Sea in the ways that we do?
What effects have our uses of the Sea had on our economic activities and on our politics?
Lastly, what do these historical trends suggest about the future of the Seas?
